are you happy?

Who’s with me on loving this Are You Happy flowchart poster? Me me me me me me me! A collaboration between Alex Koplin and David Meiklejohn of Budget Fabulous Films, I really appreciate the strength of the message and the simplicity in which it’s asked. Because really, this might be one of the most important and difficult questions we ask ourselves so it’s nice to see it broken down so simply.

Happiness

07.22.2009

“Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same.”
-Francesca Reigler

I read this quote this morning on Real Simple and it really rang true with me. I am in a miserable professional situation which is up one day and down the next but this quote really put the whole thing perspective. It’s really all about how you react to things and this is a good reminder that I need to be more cognizant of my reactions. Being miserable is exhausting and life’s too short to be unhappy.

fuckyeah

Don’t ask me where I found this (just one of the many strange things I come across in my endless hours of internet surfing), but it literally made me laugh out loud when I saw it. So, if you can get past the creepiness factor that he’s high-fiving a poor victim of taxidermy, then it should give you a little laugh too. But hey, maybe the taxidermy animal is what makes it so funny in the first place.

Either way, here’s hoping your weekend lives up to this poster! Happy Friday!

Yes, let’s!

Happy little new year to you all. Hope everyone had a nice holiday and their fair share of libations to ring in the passing of yet another year. Geez time flies! Anyhow, I figure many of you are on to some New Year’s Resolutions so what better way to get started than talking about things that really matter to us. What is it that you want to accomplish this year? What do you resolve to do differently? Amidst all the trivial little stuff, what is it that is really most important to you?

The 1000 Things That Matter project is a film about the changing nature of technology, and also about what matters to us as humans. They hope to get people to contribute 1000 things that matter to them, some of which will even be used in the film. Who knows – maybe this is the claim to fame you’ve been waiting for.

Happy Monday!

I won’t say much about it as I’m sure everyone is being inundated with election news no matter where you are (or go). But I do like this little poster and think it makes an appropriate statement about how far we’ve come and where we’re headed (hopefully).

a little reminder

10.20.2008

Sometimes we all could use a little reminder to take time out for ourselves. It is so easy to put other people’s priorities first and cater to other’s needs. In part, as a diversion tactic to what is going on in our own lives, and also possibly just because we don’t take the time. This little diddy is a good reminder to not forget “me” in the bigger picture and to always make time for yourself.
